MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee man is facing three charges of robbery of a financial institution.
According to a criminal complaint, Jeffrey Scott is accused of robbing three banks in Milwaukee County in October while wearing a Halloween mask.
Scott was charged for the robberies at The Water Stone Bank in the Village of Fox Point on October 2, PNC Bank in Glendale on October 3 and BMO Harris Bank in Cudahy on October 23.
Court documents say Scott was wearing a mask during all three robberies. During the first two incidents, he handed bank tellers a note saying he had a gun. At the BMO Harris robbery, court documents state Scott said something to the tellers about him having a gun.
$5,900 was stolen from The Water Stone Bank, $4,000 was stolen from PNC Bank and $21,000 was stolen from BMO Harris Bank.
Authorities say they connected the crimes because of the mask Scott allegedly wore. As he was being arrested at his home, police found the mask along with other items associated with the robberies.
The criminal complaint states that during a police interview, Scott admitted to the robberies and told investigators he robbed the banks because he needed money and had to pay bills.
For each count Scott faces a fine of up to $100,000 and 40 years in prison.
