MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office released the following statement about the death of the deputy:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Deputy Van Callies. He was a valuable asset to our agency and involved in many specialized units. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends.”

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy has died of a fentanyl overdose.
According to the Medical Examiner, Deputy Van-Thanh Callies died after taking prescription medications.
He died in March after he was found unresponsive in his Franklin home.
His death has been ruled accidental.
