Milwaukee Common Council votes to close 618 Live on Water

MILWAUKEE --  The Milwaukee Common Council voted to continue a 90 day suspension of 618 Live on Water's, also known as the Lady Bug Club, license. This comes after a judge ordered the business reopened.

Attorney's representing a hotel manager pushing for the club's closure addressed the common council before the vote. Attorney's hired by the club defended the club saying the complainants don't reside in Milwaukee, and therefore should not be able to file complaints.

According to documents filed with Milwaukee's licensing committee there have been shootings, fights, noise and other nuisance behavior in the area involving patrons.

The complaint details concerns from the general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is behind the club. It states, in part, \"the activities of 618 Live have resulted not only in threating (sic) the safety and enjoyment of guests, but the financial well being of the hotel...\"

The club's general manager, Habib Manjee, said they've never had major problems inside or directly outside of the club.  \"We have evidence that we not running a very bad club like people are hating us like that,\" he said.

The common council has given 618 Live on Water credit for the 30 days the club was closed.
