Milwaukee-area parades and festivals during Memorial Day weekend

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Several events are taking place in Milwaukee over Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day Remembrances:

Milwaukee Memorial Day Parade: The parade honoring Zablocki VA Medical Center and employees steps off at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 28. It starts at 4th and Wisconsin and ends in Veterans Park.

The Milwaukee VA Medical Center and American Red Cross Southeast Wisconsin Chapter are holding a Memorial Day Ceremony. The ceremony will take place Monday, May 28 from 9:25-10:45 a.m. at Wood National Cemetery.

The Waukesha Allied Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day commemoration starting with a River Service at 9:00 a.m. on May 28 in front of the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building followed by the parade at 10:15 a.m. The Waukesha Civic Band will then perform at 11:00 a.m. at Cutler Park.

The West Allis Memorial Day Observation begins with a parade at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day starting on W. Greenfield Ave. at S. 81 Street. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park at S. 70th Street and W. National Avenue.

Oconomowoc will hold its Memorial Day Remembrance at 10 a.m. on May 28 the Rhodee Memorial Bandshell followed by a professional through downtown that ends in the La Belle Cemetery at the grave of the unknown soldier.

East Troy is holding its Memorial Weekend Corn and Brat Roast from May 25 through May 28 in East Troy Village Square. The event includes daily entertainment and city-wide rummage sale. Memorial Day Observance will be presented by local veterans groups.

Elm Grove will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. CBS 58 morning anchors Mike Curkov and Jessica Tighe will be in the parade.

The Menomonee Falls Memorial Day Parade is held on Memorial Day at 10:00 am and starts on Main Street at Harrison Avenue, traveling to downtown Menomonee Falls and continues west on Main Street, turning north on Grand Avenue and ending at the Neu’s Building Center parking lot.

The Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 will hold the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in Mequon.

The Village of Sturtevant's Memorial Day Parade starts at Schulte Elementary School, 8515 Westminster Drive at 10 a.m. on May 26, 2018.

The Greendale Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day at Municipal Parking lot and end at the High School followed by a program at the High School.

In Sussex, the VFW, Horne - Mudlitz Post 6377 will be hosting a memorial parade and ceremony to recognize the heroic efforts of the men and women of the Armed Forces on Monday, May 28. The parade starts at 1:00 pm with a ceremony to follow.

The Fond du Lac Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday beginning at 10 am on the corner of Guindon Blvd and Main Street, proceeding north to Veterans Park. A Memorial Ceremony will be held immediately afterward.

The 2018 Sheboygan County Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:00 AM, Monday, May 28 in downtown Sheboygan.

The West Bend Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 28 at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Service immediately following the parade is held on the north side of the Old Courthouse.

Weekend Activities:

The second Milwaukee Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival will take place May 26 from 12 – 5 p.m. at Waukesha County Expo Center. General Admission for those 13 and over are $5 online and $10 at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Free admission for first responders (Police, fire, EMTs, and military with proper ID).

The Wilde Subaru Family Kite Festival is taking place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 27 at Veterans Park in Milwaukee. The grand launch of more than 600 kites will be at noon.
