Milwaukee-area families in need will have a holiday meal thanks to generous donations

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Many Milwaukee-area families will have a heart Christmas meal thanks to generous donations.

Volunteers from the Milwaukee Fire Department, BMO Harris Bank, and other organizations were at the Hunger Task Force filling food bins on Friday.

Each bin has food for a holiday meal such as cheese, crackers, vegetables, and a holiday ham.

"This meal is going to make a huge difference in their holidays," said Mercedes Jensen with BMO Harris Bank.

"It's really cool to know that people are sitting down on Christmas Day with the ham, all the trimmings, and a blessed holiday because a lot of people cared and made a difference in our community," said Sherrie Tussler, Director of Hunger Task Force.

The volunteers packed 800 holiday meals. They'll be handed out to food pantries then to families just in time for Christmas.
