Mequon police arrests fake cop who questioned girls

MEQUON -- Mequon police arrested the man who impersonated an officer and asked two young girls personal questions as they walked to a park.

Police say a 19-year-old West Bend man was arrested two weeks after two young girls say he stopped his vehicle next to them and began asking them questions about their age. Both girls, aged 10-years-old and 11-years-old, said the 19-year-old man displayed a badge before driving around the park they walked to. The girls told police the 19-year-old man stopped them a second time to ask them about their school.

According to police the 19-year-old suspect admitted to having contact with the two girls. Police are recommending charges of Impersonating a Peace Office, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. The Ozaukee County District Attorney's Office has yet to make a charging decision in this matter.
