The Memorial Day Parade in the Village of Sussex has been called off for a second year in a row.
The annual event is held by the Horne-Mudlitz VFW Post 6377.
They tell us the parade route is too dangerous because of ongoing construction. As you can see, Main Street is torn up.
People participating in the parade didn't feel safe marching on gravel.
"But no matter how okay it is, the guys in the parade didn't want to do that. Nobody's going to be there because all of a sudden the curbs are gone, no sidewalks...Where are people going to watch?" said Chuck Eberhardt, Post Commander of the Sussex VFW.
The post will hold a memorial service in place of the parade.
The service is Memorial Day at 12:30 in the afternoon.
