MCMEO investigating the deaths of 3 children, 2 possible co-sleeping, 1 undetermined
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the possible co-sleeping deaths of two infants and the undetermined death of a third child, all happening in less than 48 hours.
Around 3:20 AM Sunday, the MCMEO was called to a home at N 42nd Street and W Sheridan Avenue for the death of a 2-month-old boy. The initial reports indicates that the infant was co-sleeping with an adult and another child.
Saturday morning at 7:45 AM, the MCMEO was called to a residence at N 91st Street and W Appleton Avenue for the death of a 2-month-old girl. According to the initial report the girl was co-sleeping with her parents in an adult bed.
Autopsies for the two infants are scheduled for Monday.
On Friday, September 22, a 9-month-old boy was pronounced dead at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center emergency room. According to the MCMEO, the child was found unresponsive in a home at W Forest Home Avenue and S 17th Street. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead around 10:25 AM. An autopsy was performed on Saturday and no trauma was found. The cause of death is pending further toxicology results.
