Longtime Milwaukee Police Department leader selected as next chief for South Milwaukee

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A long time Milwaukee Police Department leader has been selected as the next Police Chief in Milwaukee. William Jessup has been with MPD for 27 years and currently serves as an assistant chief leading the Investigations & Intelligence and Risk Management Bureaus.
Jessup grew up in Cudahy and will start his South Milwaukee position in January.
The current South Milwaukee Police Chief, Ann Wellens, retires in January after 28 years with the South Milwaukee Police Department.
