Missing Texas children found in Southeast Wisconsin
WEST BEND -- A Texas family is reunited after a grandfather drove his two grandchildren nearly 2,000 miles from Wayward, TX to Washington County in two days. Seven-year-old Marcus Gomez and eight-year-old Dominique Gomez ran to their father and started telling him about their cross-country journey.
On September 29th, 57-year-old William Gomez was supposed to take his two grandchildren to a park near the children's home in Texas. The family says Gomez has memory problems, and that's how he ended up taking the children to Addison, WI instead of a neighborhood park.
They trio crossed six states in three days, with a few stops. We're told they stopped for food, and made one stop at a Sears in Kentucky for underwear.
Law enforcement tracked the William Gomez across the country using his credit card activity. Eventually Gomez stopped and asked a sheriff's deputy how to get back to Texas. Family in Texas was contacted shortly after this.
