WAUWATOSA -- Both local and state investigators confirm for CBS 58 News that they are holding a person of interest in the murder of Police Officer Jen Sebena.

Sebena was shot multiple times Christmas eve. She was found by a fellow officer near a fire station about 5 a.m.

Colleagues had been looking for her after she failed to respond to calls from dispatch starting at 3 a.m.

The Wauwatosa Police Department released a statement Wednesday saying state agents were working with a person of interest but were still pursuing multiple leads. The statement does not say if the person of interest is a suspect in the fatal shooting.

The Department of Justice's Crime Unit had representatives on the case just hours into the investigation. From the beginning authorities have said they did not think the public was in danger.

Sebena had been with the force for two years and was married to Iraq War veteran Ben Sebena. The couple shared a home in Menomonee Falls. Police squads have been posted outside the home since Christmas Eve and have not allowed media to walk up to the door seeking comment.

People looking to honor Sebena's memory set up the Remembering Wauwatosa Police Officer Jennifer Sebena Facebook page.

There's also a memorial fund to pay for her funeral. Donations should be sent to Focus Credit Union branches.
