Wrong way driver crashes into vehicle near Hoan Bridge

MILWAUKEE --- A wrong way driver caused a crash on the highway Thursday night in the middle of the heavy snowfall.

The Sheriff's Office got a call for a wrong way driver around 8:40 p.m. when snow was still falling on the roadways. The vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-794 near the Hoan Bridge when it crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.

Robert Kieser, a 64-year-old Cudahy man, was arrested for his first OWI causing injury and driving the wrong way on the freeway.

The driver of the vehicle Kieser struck was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken arm. That person is expected to be fine.

If Kieser is convicted he could face up to ten years and nine months in prison.

This was the second wrong way driver on the highway this year and also the first drunken wrong way driver of 2013.
