Woman shot in domestic dispute which triggers armed standoff
WAUKESHA—A woman was shot during an armed standoff in Waukesha that lasted for more than four hours.
Police said that a domestic dispute sparked the standoff at the home near Oak Ridge and Washington Streets. The incident started around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday when a woman escaped to a neighbor’s house after being shot in the neck. The neighbor called 911 and the victim told police that her boyfriend was armed and still inside the home. SWAT Team negotiators responded with guns, riots shields and police dogs. Police evacuated some homes in the areas and others were told to stay indoors. The 32-year-old man eventually surrendered to police. He had a gunshot wound to his hand. People have been let back into their homes. The suspect was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. The woman is expected to be ok. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shootings. |
