Winter weather leaves BloodCenter of Wisconsin strapped for donors

MILWAUKEE -- The season's first major snow event resulted in several cancelled blood donations at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin. The BloodCenter of Wisconsin is expecting a shortfall of more than 1,000 units of blood.

The BloodCenter of Wisconsin is looking for extra donors to fill in for those who have cancelled. They're asking that you make an appointment Saturday, Sunday or Monday by calling 1-877-BE-A-HERO or head to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin webpage.

BloodCenter has extended its donor center hours at several locations on Saturday, December 22nd. Staff will be on hand until 3:00 p.m. at the following centers:

  • Greenfield -  7210 W. Edgerton Avenue
  • Wauwatosa - 8733 Watertown Plank Road
  • Brown Deer - 5960 W. Brown Deer Road
  • Waukesha - 2111 Springdale Road
  • Racine - 1120 S. Sunnyslope Road
  • West Bend - 130 Valley Avenue

The Wauwatosa, Greenfield, Waukesha and West Bend locations will take platelet donations by appointment only on Sunday December 23rd.
