FRIDAY-The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has released dashboard camera footage of a pursuit that went through Shorewood and Whitefish Bay early Friday morning.
They also issued the following narrative of events:
A sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically and had sped past him on eastbound Silver Spring near Port Washington Road at 4:45 a.m. today. The vehicle fled the scene, with the deputy in pursuit, and stopped again at Fairmount Avenue. A Whitefish Bay squad also joined in the pursuit.
The driver placed his hands outside the window, but fled again when the deputy and officer approached. Additional squads from Whitefish Bay and Shorewood joined in the pursuit. The subject stopped again at Woodruff Avenue and Chateau Place, got out of the car and paced around, ignoring the commands from officers, who had their weapons drawn.
Gregan R. Henry, age 33, of Milwaukee, initially dropped to the ground, then ran back into his car and drove to the intersection of Woodruff and Hampton avenues. He got out of the car and charged at a Shorewood police officer. Two officers deployed their Tasers on him and he was taken into custody without further use of force.
The pursuit lasted 2.5 miles, with top speeds of 65 mph.
Henry was transported to Froedtert Hospital to be medically cleared. MCSO will seek charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing, Resisting/Obstructing, and DUI-1st. If convicted on all charges, he could serve up to 16 years, 2 months in prison.
Henry has a criminal history that includes convictions for several armed robberies.
