West Allis Standoff

WEST ALLIS--West Allis Police were called to the area of 72nd St and Madison around 1:52 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call that a person was in a residence with a firearm.

The caller later fled from the residence.

Authorities arrived on scene and blocked off several streets in the area.

Police equipment from West Allis and Milwaukee Police as well as the Milwaukee County Sheriff Office quickly arrived.

Two bearcats and very heavily armored vehicles were on scene.

Officers in swat gear and shields were standing by.

It is believed that the suspect inside is armed with a rifle.

Police said that they were trying to resolve the situation peacefully, but still advised the public to stay away from the area until the situation is resolved.
