SUSSEX -- Maple Avenue Elementary School in Sussex closed at 10 a.m. today due to a water main break in the area.

School officials say they got word of the water main break near Maple Avenue and Butternut Lane at 8 a.m. and had enough time to inform parents, but children who were bused to school were taken home at 10 a.m.

Village officials said crews are on scene and that some properties, including the school, may not have water service while repairs are being made.

Weather is blamed for the break, and officials said crews will keep working until the pipe is repaired.
