Walker approves public transportation grantsMILWAUKEE---Governor Walker has approved five different grants to help improve or develop public transportation systems. The grants total just shy of $1.7 million. They will go to the Lac du Flambeau Tribe, Menominee Indian Tribe, Janesville-Milton-Whitewater Buses, Southwest Wisconsin Communter Buses, and Neillsville and Clark County Taxies. "These grants provide incentives to local governments and tribal governments to continue, expand or begin new rural public transit systems," said Governor Walker in a statement. "Public transit in our rual areas is critical to meet basic transportation needs for many Wisconsin residents." The funds will held communitites start up or maintain bus and taxi services. |
