Video Released of High Speed Chase on I-43
MILWAUKEE---Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies have released the video from a wild chase that took place on I-43 this week.
The chase began around 9:30 p.m. Monday night on the northbound lanes of I-43. A Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a car swerving back and forth near the Lapham exit. The Sheriff’s deputy tried stopping the car, but the driver, 29-year-old Rodney Collins, wouldn’t pull over. According to the report, Collins sped up to 90 mph though the Marquette Interchange. The driver squeezed in between cars to try to get away, but ended up crashing into another car near Highland Avenue. As the car filled with smoke, Collins decided to pull over and run away. His passenger, 24-year-old Camille Carter of Milwaukee remained in the car. Once inside the squad car, Carter confessed to having an open bottle in her purse and having drugs. Minutes later, Collins was arrested along Fond Du Lac Avenue. Collins was ticketed with his first OWI. He now faces charges for fleeing the scene and resisting arrest. If convicted, he could face up to four years and three months in prison. |
