Both men accused in Family Dollar robbery/murder in police custody
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office has filed charges against one of the two suspect responsible for the robbery of the Family Dollar located at S. 43rd St. and Oklahoma Ave. That man says he's willing to offer information on the man who killed a store employee during the robbery.
29-year-old Mikal Jones drove the getaway vehicle after the August 6th armed robbery. According to the criminal complaint, he admitted to the crime, but claims he stayed in the car the whole time.
Jones told investigators his cousin, 26-year-old Jason Wandick, pulled the trigger and Family Dollar employee Bill Melendez Jr. In the complaint, Jones said his cousin came back to the car crying after his gun went off inside the store.
Both Jones and Wandick are also suspected of taking part in an August 4th robbery.
Jones is charged with attempted credit card-fraudulent use, felony murder and armed robbery. If convicted on all charges, he'll face up to 99.5 years in prison.
UPDATE: On September 24th, Jason Wandick was taken into custody. He has yet to be criminally charged.
