Two teens dead after car slams into bus
by Becky Mortensen

NEW LONDON --- A school bus collided with a vehicle Friday evening, killing two people. The bus was carrying 39 children, two adult chaperones, and a bus driver home from a ski trip at Nordic Mountain and returning to New London Middle School.

Just after 10:00 p.m in Waupaca County near the town of New London a car traveling southbound around a curve went into the northbound lane of traffic where it struck the bus.

When officers arrived on scene they pronounced the two occupants of the car dead. The two victims were identified as 17-year-old Yalanda Maggio and 17-year-old Levi Johnson. Three children from the bus and the bus driver were transported to the hospital for minor injuries and were later released.

The roads were slippery and police believe this may have contributed to the crash. The two teens killed in the crash were not wearing their seatbelts.
