Three new civil lawsuits filed in illegal strip search case

MILWAUKEE -- The Office of Attorney Robin Shellow confirms three new lawsuits have been filed against the Milwaukee Police Department in relations to the illegal strip search scandal.

We're told one of the lawsuits is being filed on behalf of a juvenille who said an illegal body cavity search was performed on him when he was 15-years-old. The two other lawsuits were filed in July, increase the total amount of lawsuits to five.

The Office of Attorney Robin Shellow says more civil lawsuits will likely be filed in the future.

Former Milwaukee police officers Michael Vagnini, Jacob Knight, Brian Kozelek, and Jeffrey Dollhopf were all criminally charged for their part in the illegal strip search scandal.

Former Milwaukee Police Officer Michael Vagnini has been sentenced to 26 months in prison, and 34 months extended supervision for conducting illegal strip searches on Milwaukee citizens.

Weeks after Vagnini was sentenced, Jacob Knight pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of illegal body cavity search as part of a plea deal. Both Jeffrey Dollhopf and Brian Kozelek are expected to appear in court later this year.
