This is devastating to the victim's family as well as Mr. Perino's family. I think the parents on here agree that you'd be devastated if your child was either the victim or the perpetrator in this case. I'm heartbroken wtih all the events and for all involved. The more shocking thing to me is the state of victim protection/advocacy in Wisconsin. It's a misdemeanor! wow. Any of you saying that he should do hard time or suffer severe consequences should consider how your fair state views justice in these cases. I think it's quite a speculative stretch to say that "more will come forward," or that it's necessarily predatory or even "child molestation." wisconsin courts just don't see it that way. The fact that he fessed up right away might even mean that a fine will be sufficient. I won't factor in on the school or further rumor mills, easy to jump on bandwagons in hindsight.

God will Judge NOT man said on Saturday, Mar 3 at 12:36 PM

All this finger pointing is really sad to see. If you are a Christian then it is very clear God will judge us not man. I agree Craig made a very poor decision in this instance but who of us has not made bad decisions. Every single person on this thread pointing fingers and judging need to look in the mirror b/c they have no right. I bet every one of us if watched close enough could be found guilty of sinning, making poor decisions, and letting people close to us down. So go ahead and keep pointing your finger and judging others when really you have no right to do so. On the other hand I will be there for Craig as a supportive friend helping him through this tough time b/c that is what each of us would want if we where in the same position.

I am very sad that Mr. P made these choices he was a great gym teacher. But it was easy to see that he flirted with the 8t grade girls. the principal should have noticed since he was always right next to him during recess. But wow I mean we go to a CHRISTIAN school to learn about God and what not to do but when someone like Mr. P does something like this with a former student it's hard to forgive

From my understanding this behavior was reported to administration and action wasn't taken. I don't know what has to be done but my feelings are that people have to be held accountable for their non actions!!!

HCL really needs to look at their school administrators. From what has been said...Mr.P was NOT a good teacher, he had blatant favorite (usually cute girls) and obviously was acting with less than Christian values. We are all sinners and influenced by the Devil, but the church really needs to look at the school leadership. I was always told by the principal to go speak directly to the teacher if there was an issue...but some issues need to be handled with guidance from the leadership. The kids have been given way too much false-security at this school. Parents..please have the discussions with your children that are not being held at the school.

This certainly isn't as creepy as the Milwaukee Archdiocese. At least we know Craig is straight. She, whoever it is, willingly went over to his house and did these things. HE IS the adult, I agree with that, but he was tempted and just like every other human being does more than once in their life, fell for it. Stuff happens. At least now Hales Corners Lutheran sees how life really is outside their protected world where they teach kids false security. Done.

We need campaign reform, Feingold and McCain did well enough but didn't go far enough. We need to stop the political lies that are sent over the airwaves. Make them responsible for any lies they pay to have spread for the purpose of getting elected. Only allow debates to be aired. Money the politicians need will be minimal. The time period for the debates would be 6 months prior to elections. No special interests allowed for any reason to help any candidate. Your candidate will stand on his/her own merits not those of the Koch brothers or Exxon or GE .You will either tune in to see who you are voting for or you'll live the ignorant life you live now by listening to right wing radio. Maybe that is the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats aren't inundated with propaganda on a daily basis by all the republican backed special news shows, democrats are like people from Missouri 'SHOW ME' the facts not what you are told is the truth.(No more nixons, reagans or bush)

If all these 16 year olds dress their age instead of 22 year olds alot of this wouldn't happen. My question is where are their parents? I see so many young girls walking around these day's and I wonder if they are a professional call girl's and then I turn and see young kids playing outside in freezing weather without coats on. To the person who called Craig a "self-proclaimed" Christian. He is in fact a very strong Christian. He made a huge mistake(as all Christians sin) and understands the seriousness of his actions and the rightful consequences that will follow. That being said, he knows that he is the child of a loving and forgiving God who will see him and all involved through this. Craig was and IS still a good person. As far as blaming the girl involved, noone close to Craig, or the situation is doing so. In spite of her dating history or reputation, she remains the child while Craig was the adult.

But this girl has had a questionable dating background. She knows exactly what she was doing when she went over there. She didnt go over there just to "hang out" that's not the kind of girl she is. She knew what was going to happen and still did it anyways. This is Craig's fault just as much as it is hers.

I personally love the school and what it teaches. Do I agree with everything that goes on - no but that is life. Can we point fingers – sure but what does that solve? Let’s remember the pain and suffering that is going on right now. I believe the girl(s) should be applauded for speaking up. They are heros...potentially saving other girls from making that same MISTAKE – this year, next year, 5 years now. As one person said, they are only teenagers. I drank in high school, I’m sure my daughter will and I’m sure her daughter will too someday. It’s called the painful lesson of growing up. So to this girl(s) and family(ies) I thank you from a mother of a child who will be sixteen before I know it. Don’t be naive and think this couldn’t happen to your family.

Perino had many parents upset with him throughout our years, from his inability to teach, texting in the classroom constantly, his inability to communicate to parents. It’s a small select group of parents they want input/volunteer time from. If you are not in that chosen group – you don’t need to participate. As far as this situation, teenagers will be teenagers. The key word being teenager. She was a teenager; she made a bad choice. Perino was the adult. Do not blame the parents, the girl, etc. Perino was a trusted individual and abused that trust. Sorry but maybe if it comes out about them it will make them forced to listen to their parents. Maybe you have no complaints because either you are one of the chosen few there who gets what they want. I took my complaints all the way up and nothing was done but my child had to receive additional counseling due to the neglect that this school did. I know I am not the only that feels this way.

Someone just pointed out this little complaint session to me. I would like to add my two cents. While I agree with some of your comments I disagree with the way you are handling it. Take your complaints to school officials at the school don’t hide behind the anonymity of the anonymous comment. To effect change you must open a direct line of communication. It is not easy to stand up but it is better than making comments behind the back or creating a situation in which open dialogue is impossible. To the teachers posting all I can say is REALLY you should know better. At this point anything nice you say will be viewed as support. Stay quiet publically and handle it through the school. I am sure they will be handling it appropriately and if not then teachers and parents can tell school officials, to their face. Act like men/women and say what you feel or live with the way things are.

I don't care how it started, he - as a teacher at a Lutheran grade school for God's sake - needed to think with his head on his shoulders! I'm sorry, I think the parents pay so much to send their kids there so they are safe & this happens is a horrible joke! I, being a ML graduate as well, know first hand that this happened there as well, coaches even getting the alcohol for out hotel parties! There have to be questions from the parental side of the ledger as well. For instance: If the child was allowed spend the evening and/or the night with Mr. Perino, where were her parents and their checking in on her? She obviously sent him nude pics, so @ 17 did he force her or did she know what she was doing? If we as teachers or former teachers didn’t have close relationships with our student, would we know what going on in their lives. It's easy to judge, or to say how things "should" have been handled, but it's not our job to speculate or judge. No one is condoning what took place. All are suffering, and what those involved need more than anything is our prayers.

Perino is a good man who made a mistake. This story made him look like a bad guy, but he's not. This reminds me of a story. john 8 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” We all sin. I'm praying that Craig knows that what he did is wrong, that he repents, and learns from it. I hope you all do the same.

This whole situation is heartbreaking, but the way in which the school is handling it (or should I say sweeping it aside) is what has many parents up in arms. Instead of listening to the parents' concerns, the principal takes a holier than thou attitude. If a parent comes to him looking for advice or help, he treats them as though they are the ones with the problem, not his infallible school. God forbid we turn to our church and school community for help, unless we want to be the next ones chastised.

These comments are amusing. Parents these days must have no idea what their kids are doing or know about sex. It seems the victim had an idea what she was doing if she WILLINGLY came over to perino's house a second time. Yes, what perino did was against the law, but don't act like the victim didn't possibly want the act to occur. Maybe the victim was clueless, but since perino had a sext picture on his computure, this seems doubtful. I don't know, the "innocent victim" phrase that's being thrown around doesn't add up to me. While what Craig did was very wrong and a terrible abuse of trust, he will be judged...AND...forgiven by the real authority, God. He is a Christian man who made large mistakes, but I have no doubt he has/will make it right with God and be in heaven. He is the only one to blame. Parenting of the girl should be examined, the girl herself clearly needs some help now, but Craig was the adult who broke the law and sinned. With that said, he IS and will face the consequences...along with his family. Craig has a great Christian family who's world has now been turned upside down as well. Please keep them in your prayers. While it is due to the actions of Craig, nonetheless, there are many victims, let us keep them all in our prayers. The devil is cunning, baffaling and powerful...my the Lord protect us all and deliver us all from sin. We will be judged as we have judged others, therefore let us pray for ALL involved. May the Lord grant his comfort to All affected by this.

I'll never understand why he was kept for so long. My prayers are with the family. Also, praying that he will never be allowed around children again. Unbelievable that he will serve such a short amount of time. He even got her drunk, alcohol to a minor. Life is not enough! Let's not forget that there are more victims in this situation beyond the one 16 year old girl being mentioned - all the students in the elementary and middle schools whose stable learning environment is being turned upside down, the children who are questioning the values taught in their Lutheran school, everyone in the community whose trust has been broken, and, as awful as it is to consider, any other direct victims of Mr. Perino. We should never have to fear for the safety of children when they are under the guidance of school officials. Unfortunately, Mr. Perino has taken a piece of this comfort away.

I am deeply saddened by this recent news. As a mother whose child recently attended that school, I feel a mixture of disgust, deep sadness and loss, but most of all, betrayal. We all make poor decisions at times.. but this decision will affect this girl the rest of her life. I would have hoped that Mr. Perino would have thought more of the child in his care, than himself. It's a very sad world we live in - when it comes to my child, I have zero trust for anyone anymore...

The Teacher's Union will protect this guy. He'll be back in the classroom shortly. He has seniority. WEAC has to get his dues.

Mr. Perino was one of my favorite teachers and a nice guy. Its terrible that he commited this but right now both the girl, and Mr. Perino need help to get past these issues.

It's very sad when someone you know commits a sin like this that you feel was so preventable. He will have to face the consequences of this poor decision to give into temptation. The girl, Mr. Perino, and the school are all sufferring in this. He was a good teacher and a nice man, but now that is lost.
