Suspects dead after standoff on Highway 41 in Winnebago County
WINNEBAGO COUNTY—Authorities were forced to shut down Highway 41 near Oshkosh for a couple of hours Wednesday night because of a standoff that ended with a man and a woman taking their own lives.
Police said that the couple had robbed a store in Neenah earlier in the day.
They were cornered by authorities on Highway 41 near County Road Y overpass in the middle of rush hour around 4:00 p.m.
Around 6:00 p.m. police heard two gunshots and found both suspects dead.
The highway was opened back up around 9:00 p.m.
The suspect’s names have not been released at this time.
