With the long weekend ahead law enforcement are reminding residents to be safe.

Reunions for the 4th of July are happening in parks throughout the city and on lakes throughout the state. Which is why law enforcement is encouraging everyone to be safe.

The DNR is also reminding people they will be patrolling the lakes for those who don't obey the rules.

"Drinking and boating does go together in Wisconsin, unfortunately. We're not telling people they can't go out and have a good time, however if you going to go out, just like you need a designated driver you need a designated captain--somebody that will stay sober in order to operate the boat," said Conservation Warden Jason Roberts.

CBS 58's Lila Carrera reports.
