State lawmakers to take up voter fraud

by Dustin Vrab

MADISON -- Wisconsin lawmakers are ready to debate one of the most polarizing issues in the state: voters rights versus voter fraud at the polls.

Republicans passed a law last year requiring a photo ID at the polls in order to vote.

That law has since been blocked pending lawsuits.

Today a new law will be on the table that allows voters to cast a ballot without a photo ID if they cannot afford to purchase an ID, have a religous objection to being photographed or can't get a birth certificate to obtain an ID.

Opponents thing the new version of the law will still disinfranchise voters who are eligible to vote.

The debate begins at 1:00pm.
