Two fatal snowmobiling accidents in WI SaturdayWISCONSIN --- There were two fatal snowmobiling accidents in the state Saturday, one in Rock County and another in Iron County. The first was a Beloit man who died after he and another snowmobiler traveled into open water. It happened on Lake Koshkonong Saturday morning. The Rock County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a nearby resident who reported hearing someone yelling for help from the lake. When emergency crews arrived they pulled 47-year-old Willie Guzman out of the water. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man he was snowmobiling with says the two became disoriented on the lake and accidentally traveled into open water. The second fatality was in Iron County near Mercer Saturday. A snowmobiler crested a hill on a public trail and landed on top of an oncoming snowmobiler. According to the DNR the two snowmobilers knew each other. These deaths bring the number of Wisconsin snowmobiling fatalities to 18 this year. |
