Snow Etiquette: How early is too early to clear snow?

by Matt Doyle

WHITEFISH BAY -- Is there such a thing as snow removal or snow blower etiquette? The Village of Whitefish Bay thinks so, but some residents feel it's all about respect.

If you live in Wisconsin you've probably heard the familiar sounds of plows, shovels and snow blowers early in the morning. Most people need to clear the way early for work or school.

The Village of Whitefish Bay is making sure 6:00 a.m. is the earliest you start up your snowblower. The village passed an ordinance prohibiting noise within 50 feet of residences between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

We're told an ordinance violation could cost you $114, but nobody has been issued a citation for violating this ordinance yet.
