Sledding still popular at Wilson Park

by Matt Doyle

After a young boy fractured his skull at the Wilson Park sledding hill, some wondered if people might think twice before hitting the hill.

That wasn't the case Friday and Saturday as many people enjoyed the snowfall.

Jason Strez makes sledding a family affair.

"I'm out here with my daughter and my little niece," Strez said as he carried his one-year-old boy.

Strez says he thinks about safety for the three youngsters he brought along, but he also keeps his eye on them.

"No not too much, as long as the adults are here watching the kids.  I think it's a pretty safe place to sled."

Milwaukee County recommends sledding away from fixed objects like trees or fences.  The county also suggest children under 12 wear helmets.
