Slain officer's mother offers forgiveness to killer

Ben Sebena sentenced to life for murder of Officer Jen Sebena

MILWAUKEE-A judge gave 30 year old Iraq War Vet Ben Sebena life with the chance of parole in 35 years, after he plead guilty to the fatal shooting of his wife Jennifer on Christmas Eve.

Violet Gerhat, the mother of Jennifer Sebena told the court, "There are no answers after the horror, there has been peace .peace continues. In weakness, devastation. We have hope our choices have consequences justice must be served. I forgive Ben and leave Ben's future in the hands of God and the criminal justice system."

Judge David Borowski told Sebena he brought terror to Wauwatosa, but that he believed he was suffering post traumatic stress disorder and a severe brain injury.

Sebena also spoke,  "I repent for what I've done to her. I  would have seeked help. I wish I would have been able to see my family's support earlier. I ask for forgiveness and I hope to God that he gives it to me."
