MEQUON---A Brown Deer High School gradute had just achieved his biggest goal right before his life was violently cut short.

Shaun Wild, 24, became an educator in Naperville, IL. About six months later in February of that year, he was stabbed to death after trying to break up a fight.

"You just cannot describe what it does to you heart and your soul and your fear of the future. Your future will never be what you thought it would be," says Shaun's mom Jami Wild.

Shaun would have turned 25 on Tuesday. This year, friends and family are celebrating without him in Mequon.

"I think we are trying as hard as we can to make this a celebration of life and to show our support for each other because it's always going to be hard," says Shaun's friend, Stephanie Cybela.

The Wild family wants to make sure Shaun's legacy lives on. They started a fund to help buy a new scoreboard at Brown Deer High School where Wild played football.

To donate, send a check payable to "Brown Deer School District" Attn: Scoreboard Donation to 8200 N. 60th Street Brown Deer, WI 53223. Call (414) 371-6750 with questions.
