Death of Shorewood man ruled homicide

SHOREWOOD -- The Shorewood Police Department found a 57-year-old deceased Clarence Charles inside an apartment while conducting a welfare check. Police say the Shorewood male was reported missing prior to his death. Charles formerly was an employee at the Metro Market.

Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office had ruled the death of Charles a homicide after conducting an autopsy.

A neighbor of Charles has spoken with CBS 58, "His mother had called me [and] asked me if I know where he was. I said I hadn't seen him or heard from him all day...very disheartening yeah just I'm heartbroken."

Police continue to investigate the death of Clarence Charles in Shorewood, where there hasn't been a homicide case for two decades. The last homicide was in November of 1993, in which a handyman was strangled in his apartment, which ironically happens to be the very same building where Charles was found dead.
