Sheboygan Police search for the owner of a pitbull after a woman was bit on Michigan Avenue

by Jesse Tovar

SHEBOYGAN -- The Sheboygan Police Department is requesting that the owner of a tan and white pitbull (or similar breed) that bit a woman on July 9, 2013 to contact the police. The incident took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue.

The woman was bit on the arm after kneeling down to greet the dog, which was on a leash. She described the bite as playful. Police need to contact the owner because state law dictates that any dog which bites a person be observed for a period of 10 days to make sure the animal does not exhibit any signs of rabies.

Without an examination of the dog, the woman may need to undergo rabies treatment. If you are the owner of this dog, or know the owner, please contact the Sheboygan Police department at 920-459-3333
