Shamrock Club Oktoberfest
blending German and Irish cultures in Milwaukee
by Michele McCormack

MILWAUKEE-Sauerkraut and shamrocks made for a lovely combination Thursday at the Irish Cultural Heritage Center on Wisconsin near 21st Street.

Since many member of the Shamrock Club share German and Irish heritage, they combined the two for their monthly meeting where they were busy planning for the upcoming St. Patrick's Parade.

This year's march starts at noon from the Shops at Grand Avenue, 3rd and Wisconsin, on March 15th.

The Shamrock Club is always looking for new members and volunteers.

You don't have to be Irish, just love the culture and friendship.

CBS 58's Michele McCormack is a member and shared stories from her recent trip to Ireland.

She also got to congratulate retired police officer Peter Fleming on his selection to portray St. Patrick in this year's parade..
