Second suspect charged in playground shooting that injured 10-year-old girl
MILWAUKEE -- 28-year-old Jamey Jackson is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon after allegedly firing on 18-year-old Slyvester Lewis. Lewis shot 10-year-old Sierra Guyton who was playing the playground behind Jackson.
According to the criminal complaint, Lewis was confronted by Jackson's friend just outside Clarke St. Elementary School at N. 28th and Clarke St. Jackson's friend accused Lewis of stealing his "baby's momma's kid's" clothes. Lewis told police Jackson began backing away from the group, and was "upping" a gun.
Lewis told police he got off his bike, and walked to the street. He alleges Jackson was pointing a gun at him and threatened to kill him. Lewis says after Jackson opened fire on him, he fired his gun until it was empty. One of Lewis' bullets hit 10-year-old Sierra Guyton who was on the school's playground.
A teenage witness says she saw Jackson fleeing the scene of the shooting, and putting the gun back in his pants.
We have confirmed Jackson was out on probation when 10-year-old Sierra Guyton was shot.
Jackson was arrested in 2003 for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old James Gibbs. It apparently happened over a borrowed handgun. The suspect was convicted of 2nd degree reckless homicide in that case and he served 10 years in prison.
