MILWAUKEE -- A major renovation project is underway at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport. The $45 million renovation of the baggage claims area will begin with the removal of part of the ceiling.

Airport officials says the entire baggage claim area will be rebuilt over the next two years with features like a glass canopy, new green roof, skylights and energy efficient lighting. The age of the building was cited as a reason for these extensive renovations.

The project will be completed in the summer of 2015.
