Racial slur inserted into MATC student's profile in online learning systemMILWAUKEE -- A lengthy investigation by Milwaukee Area Technical College found that a racial slur was entered into the online profile of an African-American student on the schools online learning system Blackboard. MATC launched the investigation after MATC student Erica Hughes alleged her instructor entered a racial slur in her profile on the school's online learning system. According to MATC, someone using the guest Wi-fi network changed the information on Hughes' account from the West Allis campus. The college says the professor only accessed the system from their Mequon campus. The school also says instructors can't alter information in a student's profile. |
