Potawatomi shooting suspect released from police custody

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says the man arrested in connection to a weekend shooting at Potawatomi Bingo Casino has been released. We're told the case is still being investigated by the prosecutor's office.

The shooting suspect posted a $500 bail, on separate criminal charges. He has yet to be criminally charged for the Potawatomi Bingo Casino shooting.

Milwaukee Police responded to the shooting at Potawatomi Bingo Casino around 1:30 a.m. on June 16th.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was gambling with her boyfriend when they got into an altercation. The woman's brother tried to intercede on her behalf. During the altercation the woman was shot in the leg.

The woman sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg when the suspect fired a handgun during a fight inside of the casino.  Her 27-year-old boyfriend from Wauwatosa was arrested by Milwaukee police. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.

The casino was temporarily closed and reopened to the public at 9 a.m. Sunday. Since the shooting casino leadership have been going over security protocols and video tape to see if improvements could be made.

This incident is still under investigation, and criminal charges have yet to be issued.
