MILWAUKEE --- 14-year-old Kaleel Buchanan did not act alone when he gunned down 27-year-old Dennis Smith, according to police. The teen's stepfather, 42-year-old Jammie Yerks is also accused of homicide.

It appears that an argument led to the fatal shooting. According to court records, the teen said his stepfather met him, gave him the gun, and he "began shooting wildly" at Smith.

Smith died with 23 gunshot wounds and four bullets still inside him, according to records.

Witnesses also placed the teen's mother at the scene. 35-year-old Chacette Buchanan faces a charge for contributing to the delinquency of a child resulting in death.

The homicide happened on the morning of Saturday, August 18th, just a block away from Smith's home near 24th and Keefe where he lived with his girlfriend.

The 14-year-old boy is being charged as an adult and faces life in prison, along with his stepfather. The mother faces up to 25 years behind bars.

Jammie Yerks and Chacette Buchanan made their first court appearances on Friday. Kaleel Buchanan appeared in juvenile court on Thursday. Bond is set for all three at half a million dollars.
