Storeowner shoots at armed robbery suspect

KENOSHA---On Wednesday at 10:52 a.m. officers from Kenosha Police Department were dispatched to the Quality Foods on 50th St. for an armed robbery.

While squads were enroute, police recieved information that shots had been fired and the suspect had fled the scene.

The victim reported that a black male suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect then fled on foot eastbound on 50th St.

The storeowner grabbed a gun that he had in the store and ran out the door, firing two shots in the air to scare the suspect.

A witness later said that a suspect matching the description got into a gray, tall van with no windows and took off westbound on 48th St. from 17th Ave.

The suspect is described as a black male around 30-years-old with a goatee. He was wearing a black cap, a black hoodie with the hood pulled up, a black coat with a white emblem over the left breast and white writing on the back of the shoulder blades, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes with white on them.

No injuries were reported from this incident.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to call Crimestoppers or the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203.
