FOND DU LAC -- Wanted for beating up his girlfriend and kindnapping her kids, CBS 58 News has obtained video of how police finally caught up to a wanted man.

It started as domestic battery in Oshkosh and ended in a dramatic chase in Waukesha County.

Only CBS 58 News talked with the family of the abducted children.

"He just wanted her to love him," said Ka Xiong, a cousin of the victims.

For the first time, we're hearing from the family and getting a look at the apartment complex in Fond du Lac where three young children, ages three, four, and five were abducted Monday evening.

Police caught up with their suspect Tou Thao, after a chase on highway 41. He was pulled over in a minivan with the three children inside. The vehicle then took off, but less than a minute later crashed at the 124th Street exit.

Officers move in to help rescue the kids, as the suspect tries to get away on foot.

The children were taken to Children's Hospital to be checked out and have since been released.

Tuesday night, CBS 58 News learned the children are in protective custody.

The suspect is now behind bars.
