Police Increase Patrols For St. Patrick's Day CelebrationsMILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Police plan to increase patrols this weekend as well as St. Patrick's Day weekend as party-goers make plans to celebrate downtown. Captain Stephen Basting says police will patrol on foot, mounted on horses and by car. They will also keep a close eye on people walking near the Milwaukee River. This weekend last year, Tom Hecht, 24, partied at the bars on Water Street and vanished. His body turned up in the Milwaukee River a couple weeks later. Captain Basting says it's important for party-goers too look out for each other. He reminds people not to let friends drive drunk and that "friends don't let friends walk drunk and wander into neighborhoods drunk as well." CBS 58's Elizabeth Fay reports from Water Street. |
