Plane makes emergency landing on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago
CHICAGO—A small plane is forced to make an emergency landing on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
Pilot John Pedersen of Lombard had left Schaumburg before sunrise for a recreational flight in the single engine experimental aircraft.
The plane was experiencing mechanical problems over downtown Chicago when the pilot was forced to land on busy Lake Shore drive Sunday morning.
Pederson has noticed a problem with the rear wing as he passed Willis Tower and said he had no choice but to land.
The pilot said that he timed his landing to the red light and landed on the drive’s northbound lanes when fewer cars were on the roadway.
No one was injured.
