Park murder case involving judge's son referred to State Justice Department

MILWAUKEE—The State Justice Department is now stepping in to handle a murder case in which the prime suspect is the son of a local judge.

45-year-old Teresa Boone was found stabbed to death in a Riverwest Park on Sunday night.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at a nearby gas station that same night.

No formal charges have been filed yet so CBS 58 is not identifying the suspect by name.

But, his father who is a judge confirms that his son is now in custody and has a long history of mental illness.

Milwaukee County prosecutors have asked the State Attorney General to review the case and make a recommendation on charges, in order to avoid any appearance of conflict.
