Over 500 iPads and tablet computers stolen from Random Lake Schools
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of over 500 Apple iPads and tablet computers from the Random Lake School District. The sheriff's office says the stolen electronic devices are worth about $180,000.
Investigators say a district employee was involved in this long-term theft. The sheriff's office plans to refer criminal charges to the Sheboygan County District Attorney's Office.
UPDATE: School District of Random Lake supreintendent Tom Malmstadt tells CBS 58 that the 500 iPads and tablets will not be recovered. He says they were insured, some new tablets were purchased late last week, and they will be in students' hands very soon.
