Man shot by MPD released from hospital

MILWAUKEE ---The suspect who was shot by a Milwaukee Police officer on July 13th has been released from the hospital.

An armed suspect led a Milwaukee Police Officer on a chase that ended with the suspect being shot.

The police officer was in his squad on North Ave. around 11:30 p.m. when he saw a suspect shooting a handgun at house on 44th St.

The officer chased the suspect on foot toward 45th St. where the suspect turned toward the officer. The officer then shot the suspect.

The suspect is identified as a 25-year-old Milwaukee man. He was taken into custody and transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to survive.

The suspect has a record including robbery, possession of a firearm and drugs.

The officer involved in the incident is a 32-year-old with 8-years of service with MPD. The officer is on administrative duty while police finish the investigation into the the shooting.
