Mr. Baseball Now in Bronze

by Michele McCormack

MILWAUKEE --- The Brewers honored longtime broadcaster Bob Uecker Friday by unveiling a bronze statue of the Hall of Famer.

The seven foot tall bronze statue stands outside Miller Park, joining statues of Hank Aaron, Robin Yount and baseball commissioner Bud Selig.

Uecker played six seasons in professional baseball and was part of the 1964 World Series Championship with St. Louis.

He's been the voice of the Brewers since 1971.

"To all of you for being here, my family, thank you very much," Uecker told the crowd. "It's been a great day."

The 77-year-old Uecker became emotional during the unveiling ceremony with Aaron and Selig in attendance.
