UPDATE: Arrest in Mount Pleasant toddler death

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Police have arrested a 26 year old man for the death of a toddler in Mt. Pleasant Friday.

CBS 58 News is not identifying the man until formal charges are filed.

Investigators tell us they are recommending 1st degree intentional Homicide.

The man is the boyfriend of the child's mother and is in custody at the Racine County Jail.

The cause of death of the child has not been determined yet, pending an autopsy.

Neighbors on the scene told CBS 58's Rielle Creighton the child was scalded with hot water.

Others said they were surprised because they didn't know children even lived in the house.

The identity of the child is not being released at this time pending notification of family.

Mount Pleasant police responded to the report of an unresponsive three-year-old boy around 10:10 a.m. Friday morning. The child was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The death is being investigated as suspicious by the Racine County Medical Examiner's Office and the Racine County District Attorney's Office.

No one has been arrested in relation to this death.
