WAUKESHA --- A Waukesha man accused in a fatal hit and run crash made his first court appearance Monday. Edgar Montano, 28, faces the following charges: homicide by negligent operation/vehicle and hit and run involving death which are both felonies, and hit and run causing injury which is a misdemeanor. Cash bond is set at $250,000.

Jean Feagles of Waukesha, 47, was killed in the crash early Saturday morning near Highway 59 and East Broadway. Her daughter, 16, was injured.

According to court records, the mother and daughter had run out of gas, the car kept stalling, and the daughter pushed the car from the back, while Feagles tried to steer and push from the driver's side. Police said Montano hit them and drove away after a night of drinking alcohol and partying at a Milwaukee nightclub.

Montano's loved ones told CBS 58 that he is a role model, and is being made out to be a monster. They showed up at his court appearance to show support.

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel said Feagles has two grown daughters, along with the 16 year old who was hurt in the crash. She showed up in court on crutches, along with loved ones.

Schimel said Montano's immigration status is unclear, it appears he has been in the United States for less than a decade, and is a flight risk.
