Mitchell Interchange construction officially ends
MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- It causes thousands of drivers extra time and immense frustration, but the good news is it all ends Friday.
The major project at the Mitchell Interchange is officially finished. The goal of the $300 million project was to construct a new and modern interstate on I-94/I-43 between College and Howard Avenues. It caused traffic delays because of lane and ramp closures, but it was worth it. There are now three new tunnels for drivers to maneuver through, 51 bridges, 50 retaining walls and 17 noise walls. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 1:00 p.m. Friday. |
